Lee's Summit City Council approved two contracts totaling more than $9.5 million for the General Aviation Terminal project at the Kansas City Lee's Summit Regional Airport during their Tuesday meeting.
The council unanimously adopted Bill Number 25-174, approving a Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission amendment to a state block grant agreement for project number 23-109A-1 in the amount of $4,775,534.
Council members also unanimously approved Bill Number 25-175, awarding the construction bid for the LXT General Aviation Terminal Project to Civic Elite Contracting for $9,512,672.65.
Both measures were first moved to second reading before being adopted. The city manager was authorized to execute the agreement with Civic Elite Contracting, while the mayor was authorized to execute the agreement with the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission.
The terminal project represents a significant investment in the city's aviation infrastructure. The council's actions came during a lengthy meeting that included discussions on several other topics, including stormwater infrastructure funding and employee health insurance costs.
The meeting, which began at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall, was open to the public and streamed live on the city's YouTube channel.
