Lee's Summit Finance Committee Approves Major Communications System Upgrade
The Lee's Summit Finance and Budget Committee on Tuesday approved a significant change order for the city's Joint Operations Center Migration Plan, adding nearly $2.8 million to the contract with Motorola Solutions, Inc.
The committee unanimously approved Change Order No. 4, which increases the contract price by $2,824,533 for system infrastructure costs. The agreement also includes additional annual expenses of $317,490 for system lifecycle maintenance and $96,240 for cybersecurity costs over six years.
The action came during the committee's regular meeting, which was livestreamed on the city's YouTube channel. The committee serves as an advisory body that evaluates financial statements and recommends budget items to the full City Council.
Committee members also approved polling place contracts with Jackson County for three Lee's Summit locations: the Lovell Community Center, Longview Community Center and the Gamber Center. The contracts will allow these facilities to serve as polling locations for county elections.
The meeting included presentations on project delivery methods and the city's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, prepared by Forvis Mazars LLP.
The Finance and Budget Committee's recommendations will advance to the full City Council for final approval. The committee reviews the city manager's proposed budget and considers financial transactions as directed by the City Council under Article XI of the City Charter.
The meeting lasted approximately one hour and 18 minutes, with public comment period offered but no speakers participating.
