Lee's Summit opens Community Development Block Grant application period

The City of Lee's Summit will begin accepting applications for Community Development Block Grant funding on Jan. 6, officials announced Friday.

Qualified agencies have until Feb. 6, 2026, to submit applications for the 2026-27 CDBG funding cycle, according to a city press release.

The federal grant program, administered through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, provides annual funding to Lee's Summit. The city receives these federal dollars each year to address community development needs.

Grant funds must be used for specific purposes outlined by federal guidelines, including meeting the needs of low- to moderate-income individuals and families, addressing slum or blight conditions within Lee's Summit, or responding to urgent community needs.

Organizations interested in applying for the funding can begin the application process when the window opens in early January. The one-month application period runs through early February.

The Community Development Block Grant program represents part of the federal government's efforts to support local communities in addressing housing, economic development and infrastructure needs, particularly for underserved populations.

More information about the application process and eligibility requirements will be available through the City of Lee's Summit's Development Services department.
