Lee's Summit Planning Commission Approves Legacy Ridge Development Rezoning
The Lee's Summit Planning Commission approved a major rezoning and development plan for a 131-acre property at the southeast intersection of SW Ward Road and SW Hook Road during its meeting Wednesday evening.
The commission voted to rezone the property known as Legacy Ridge from agricultural use to a mixed-use development that will include single-family residential, apartment residential, and community commercial zones. Griffin Riley Property Group submitted the application for the project at 815 SW Hook Road.
The approved preliminary development plan calls for rezoning the land to RP-1 (Planned Single-family Residential), RP-4 (Planned Apartment Residential) and CP-2 (Planned Community Commercial) designations. The commission also approved a conceptual development plan for the project.
The rezoning ordinance, designated as TMP-3573, was processed under the city's Unified Development Ordinance provisions. The property is located in an area experiencing significant growth on Lee's Summit's western edge.
The meeting, which was livestreamed on the City of Lee's Summit's YouTube channel, included a public hearing on the Legacy Ridge proposal. The commission conducted its standard agenda items including roll call, public comments, and approval of consent agenda items before addressing the development application.
The approved plans will now advance to the Lee's Summit City Council for final consideration. The council will need to formally adopt the rezoning ordinance before the development can proceed.
No opposition or concerns were noted in the available meeting information. The commission meeting concluded with a roundtable discussion among members before adjournment.
