City Committee Backs Workday Support Purchase, With Credits Offsetting Cost
The Lee's Summit Finance and Budget Committee voted to recommend approval of an ordinance authorizing a Workday order agreement not to exceed $115,044 for a Workday Success Plan and flex credits to support the city's ERP system (TMP 3723).
IT Director Diana Newman told the committee the success plan would give internal staff direct access to Workday experts rather than working through a management service provider, improving training and efficiency. She said a security audit would be an early priority, aimed at improving security and making information more accessible. The flex credits would allow the city to introduce Workday AI agents, which staff have already tested with accounts payable, and could support functions including financial audit, planning, payroll, self-service and recruiting.
Newman said the purchase breaks down to about $85,000 for the success plan and $30,000 for the flex credits. She noted the city has unused, use-or-lose training credits from the past that can be applied to offset the cost, reducing the effective ask to about $42,244. The measure moves to the full Council with a recommendation of approval.
